Ring in the New Year
Greetings! What is more exciting or holds more promise than the beginning of a New Year? Very little! And this Sunday, December 29th, whom better to
🎉 “Ring in the New Year” 🎉
with than our good friend Bill Carpenter? We will be saying farewell to 2024 in a way that celebrates the journeys that have brought us to this moment, while welcoming in 2025 along with the gifts and miracles that it already possesses.
Life is always good, but something magical happens when that calendar flips, and we behold 365 squares of blank canvas onto which we use our New Thought “brushes” to paint our dreams into reality. We are all brilliant artists! 🖌️ 🎨 🌁
Tom and our great PNTC choir will SING in the New Year (see what I did there? Bill’s talk is RING in and I said… Ok, I’ll stop.) with a special NewThought rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” (loosely translated: old, long friendship). Heyyy… that’s what WE all have!
Many of us are entering the New Year a bit battered and bruised, for various reasons; we are mourning a loss, we have health issues, or we have other pressing concerns. Don’t forget to release it all to God, and remember: your prayers are already answered!
The Profoundly Simple Message of Christmas
Greetings! This Sunday, December 22nd is our Christmas Service.
Joining us for the special event is our beloved Rev. Emerita Donna Byrns. Rev. Donna’s Christmas Service sermon is:
“The Profoundly Simple Message of Christmas.”
Rev. Donna is one of the great minds in New Thought today. Her talks are deep, challenging, and always exhilarating. It will be a gift for us to hear her speak on the Simple Message of Christmas and how it relates to our own spiritual journeys. We are always grateful for the extraordinary efforts she takes to spend time with us.
This year, music director Tom and our EVER-so-talented PNTC choir are excited to unveil a new repertoire of Christmas songs! Originally performed by the 1960’s folk group The Kingston Trio, the songs have received the full “Armbruster treatment” and have been artfully arranged for a choir.
One last reminder to bring a Christmas card for your fellow PNTC members. Share the love, share the cheer— at this most sacred and festive time of year!
Be the Light
Greetings! This Sunday we welcome back (with open arms!) Rev. Jeannie Soverns who’s coming all the way from Arizona to deliver her message to us. Rev. Jeannie has sampled a lot of life and brings all of that experience, curiosity, compassion and open-mindedness to her ministry. Her talk this week is perfect for the sacred season we are in:
“Be the Light.”
Light is used to symbolize God, faith, and holiness. We are called to not only walk in the light, but to be the light for others. Rev. Jeannie is as bright as a Roman candle in the sky, and she offers a vibrant example of what ✨“being the light”✨ looks like! ✨ ✨ ✨
Along with festive songs of the season from Tom and the choir, the congregation will be treated to a solo by singer/songwriter Carol Burton! 🎶
Christmas without music would be like a night without stars… unimaginable! A huge and hearty thank you to our dedicated PNTC choir for providing the soundtrack to our spiritual journey throughout the year and especially at Christmas! 🎄🎅🏽🎄
Throughout the years, our congregation has donated to Friends In Deed. Attached to the newsletter, you’ll see a photo of exactly what those donations can do!
We Are Alive with the Joy of Life
Greetings! This Sunday is a special one as we welcome back from her world travels our very own Rev. Suzanne Commons! Rev. Suzanne will be sharing her wisdom, her light, and her finely-attuned mind with us this Sunday via her message:
“We Are Alive with the Joy of Life. Let Us Count the Ways…”
Spend time with someone and you will eventually discover at their core where they were born and raised. New Yorkers are edgy and sophisticated. Midwesterners are often down-to-earth and sincere. Rev. Suzanne was born in France. She is the perfect emissary for the French way of living; the joie de vivre that so seamlessly intertwines with the best aspects of living a New Thought life. C’est bon! 👌
Our dedicated PNTC choir is putting in overtime learning all new songs for our Xmas program on December 22nd. Happily, that means that we will be treated to a solo by none other than music director Tom Armbruster! And that’s always special.
A reminder to bring a new, stuffed animal(s) to make a child’s Xmas a little brighter. 🧸 In addition, PNTC’s Dec. donation will be to FID’s special holiday food affair. 🌺
The Frequency of Love
Greetings! Kicking off the Christmas season, this Sunday December 1st, is a heart-centered person and speaker, Rev. Mirna Morales. She joins us after being away too long! Rev. Mirna’s message this Sunday is:
"The Frequency of Love: Embracing the Season of Love's Radiance.”
Rev. Mirna does an artful job of blending her spiritual and earthly lives. She brings her spiritual wisdom to her real estate clients (lucky them!) and brings her earthly experience to her Sunday sermons (lucky us!) Among many things, Rev. Mirna serves as a spiritual practitioner at Ahiah Spiritual Center. She also leads a “A Course In Miracles” group on Facebook every Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
As Tom and our extraordinary PNTC choir begin rehearsals for our Dec. 22nd Christmas Service, we will be treated to a series of Sunday solos. First to delight us is new choir member Steve Apperson!
We hope everyone found multiple reasons to give thanks yesterday. Pasadena New Thought Center gave thanks for YOU! 💜
In All Things Give Thanks
Greetings! This Sunday, November 24th, is the Service before Thanksgiving. For many, Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday because it isn’t about presents, it isn’t about clothes— It’s a simple holiday, focusing on gatherings, family, food (of course), but most importantly, gratitude.
This Sunday, we are so happy to welcome back as guest speaker, Rev. Judy Osuna. Rev. Judy has a fresh and candid take on all things New Thought. Her conversational way of speaking is amusing, engaging and thought-provoking. She brings all of herself and the many ways she has served humanity to the pulpit. Her talk for us this week is: 🍁 “In All Things Give Thanks.” 🍁
Tom and our transplendent PNTC choir will scale the musical heights (and take us along with them!) with a beautiful song of hope called “One Step at a Time.”
And finally, we said good-bye to someone very special to the CoT/PNTC family this week. Gary Mortimer, long-time Office Administrator, CoT & choir member, transitioned to pure Spirit on Tuesday 11/19th. We will keep you posted as to anyy remembrance ceremony or gathering in the future. We’ll see you later, friend! 🕊️
An Ethical Morality
Greetings! This Sunday, November 17th, we are excited to welcome back our good friend, deep thinker, and wonderful speaker, Dr. Jay Willick, The New Thought Guy. Dr. Jay’s talk this Sunday is: “An Ethical Morality.”
Hoo, boy. Is there a more timely topic? Probably not.
Always worth considering, Dr. Jay couldn’t be joining us at a better time, as ethics and morality (or more accurately, the lack thereof) is front and center in a particularly spectacular way right now. It is more important than ever to define our personal credo and let it ring out in crystal clear tones to combat the dissonance, and act to as a beacon to others who are also faithful to the light. 🎆
Where in the world would we be without Tom and our amazing PNTC choir? I hope we never have to find out! They don’t just sing, they minister to our souls in a way only beautiful music can. Every week, they comfort, uplift and inspire. This week, their featured song is, “Somewhere Out There.”
Please join us in Harmony Hall after Sunday Service for our usual delicious nibbles and to watch the video of our 100th Homecoming! 💯💯💯💯💯💯
How Do I Deal with the World Today?
Greetings! This Sunday, November 10th, we are fortunate to have Rev. Bill Carpenter in the pulpit to help us grapple with a very timely and pressing question:
“How Do I Deal with the World Today?”
To state the obvious, the world is a complex place. Change is constant and oftentimes not what we deem for the “better.” As spiritual and compassionate people, it’s hard to understand when people make choices that put themselves, others, and sometimes the entire planet at risk.
What is our responsibility?
How best to stay in the moment, instead of spinning out into the future?
Is pursuing joy a transformative act? Or is it “spiritual bypass”?
How do we deal with the world today? We’re ready to hear Rev. Bill speak on it.
We are always ready to hear Tom and our glorious PNTC choir sing words of prayer, love and wisdom. This Sunday, they will lead us in a meditative chant, reminding us that regardless of appearances, “There is Nothing But Peace.” ☮️ ☮️ ☮️
